Biography

Jordanian artist and academic

Portrait of Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Al-Khatib

Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Al-Khatib is a Jordanian visual artist and academic born in 1978. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Yarmouk University in 2000, his Master’s degree in Visual Arts from Yarmouk University in 2011, and his PhD in Philosophy of Arts from the University of Jordan in 2020. He is affiliated with the College of Arts and Design at the University of Jordan, where his work spans drawing, painting, art history, and art criticism.

His artistic practice moves between painting, mural work, and visual research into memory, place, and identity. Through landscapes, urban memory, national symbols, and Arab cultural references, his work contributes to the contemporary Jordanian art scene. Since 2005, he has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions and has received several awards, including the Jamal Badran Award from the Palestine International Foundation in 2018. He currently serves as President of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association.
